Today, eco-innovation represents a tool for vitalizing the circular economy ? an urgent problem ? both at the global as well as at the national level. Eco-innovation is the key to the future competitiveness of any country that contributes to the circular economy and a sustainable future while also promoting environmental protection and more efficient use of resources. Eco-innovations are implemented in all Member States, sectors and markets of the European Union, yet the intensity of this activity is still insufficient. In Latvia, too, the intensity of eco-innovation is low. Therefore, the research aims to identify eco-innovation performance in Latvia and correlations between the factors affecting it.
To achieve the aim, the following research methods were employed: monographic, statistical analysis and quantitative and qualitative analysis.
Information sources used: specific economic literature, published research papers, scientific conference proceedings from databases: EBSCO, Science Direct, Scopus, as well as the European Union?s legal acts and directives, statistical data from Eurostat, the OECD and other international institutions.
