Unlike friable rocks, salt behaves pseudoplastic when blasted, which leads to other premises of the blasting technique compared to those applied for stratified sedimentary or eruptive rocks. Here can also add the salt inhibitory character on the thermodynamic parameters of the explosions, with effects on their efficiencies as well as some particularities of the execution of the blasting works due to the presence of methane gas in the salt mines. The article presents the results of the research carried out in firedamp salt mines and which led to the identification of solutions for the execution of the blasting works, in conditions of safety and efficiency. The experimental blasting works were done with the use of permissible explosives, taking into account the particularities of the types of explosives used and those of the salt deposit. For this purpose, the parameters of the salt rocks, mine workings, drilling & blasting and as well as the requirements imposed by the presence of methane gas in the mine air were taken into account. Also, the values of the peak particle velocity due to the effect of the blasting works on the underground excavations were determined and based on these determinations it was possible to establish the explosive charges possible to be detonated so that the seismic effect of explosions not to affect the stability of the resistance structures - pillars and floors, taking also into account the particularities related to the fire damp character of the salt mines.
