In this paper we present the frequency ratio method, a commonly used technique for designing a landslide risk map for the Muscel catchment area, based on the quantitative association between the landslides inventory and their causative factors. The river basin of the Muscel stream is located on the right bank of the Dambovita river, in the north of the region with the same name and due to geological and geomorphological conditions, but also due to anthropogenic activity, it was and still is affected by landslides.
In the course of 2018 to 2020 related to this paper, 31 landslides were identified and inventoried in different sliding stages within the Muscel watershed, and the statistical method of the frequency ratio for landslides risk assessment proved to be successfully applied. So, the landslides risk map was acquired and it was divided into 3 main classes: low, medium and high risk of sliding, from which resulted a major landslide risk of 12.29%, representing an area of approximately 395 ha with a value of AUC (Area Under a Curve) of 87.14%, the magnitude of the incline having the largest share in triggering landslides according to the prediction rate chart.
Based on the achieved results it was proved that the frequency ratio method is a fairly accurate technique in assessing landslides susceptibility and we expect that these results will be used as a database for urban planning and land use in the Muscel watershed.
