One of the significant problems in terms of the mining impact on environment is abandoned (due to various factors) deposits and tailings accumulated on landfills. In addition, one of the most important resources for the development of mining is the inclusion of raw materials (as non-industrial stocks) in the economy. There are two ways to solve these problems: a) to achieve economic profitability of the deposit by improving the technologies of extraction and processing of basic raw materials, and b) to develop innovative technologies of secondary processing of the ore and tail recycling to obtain another competitive market product. The article is devoted to the prospects for further use of unprofitable iron deposits and recycling tails to obtain natural pigments and iron syringes. The issue is especially topical in the regional context. Georgia's construction industry completely depends on imports of synthesized pigments and varnish/paints, while there are more than 300 deposits of natural pigments and ores in the country. Among them, there are more than 260 iron-oxides, and their total reserves exceed 2 million tons. Regarding this problem, thematic studies were conducted on the basis of the abandoned iron deposit in Poladauri, Georgia. In particular, the article discusses the impact of the abandoned deposit and industrial waste on the ecology of the environment. Based on geological stock data, it is considered as a raw material deposit of natural pigments and its forecast reserves are estimated; the mineral and chemical composition, structural and textural features of the technological sample of Foladauri iron ore deposits group have been studied on mineral enrichment. Magnetic separation is selected among several methods for obtaining the pigment. Enriched products: "Mummy type" pigment and iron content quality indicators meet the standard requirements. Improving the ecological situation is discussed in economic terms. Based on the obtained results, the following aspects are assessed: a potential for improvement the ecological situation of the environment under conditions of enterprise recovery and production of natural pigments, and the prospects for the production of a market product
