The interiors of buildings are often overheated in summer. The integration of Phase Change Material (PCM) into the building structure can reduce the temperature in the interior because PCMs are able to store latent heat at normal indoor air temperatures. This paper presents the results of the research of mechanical and thermal properties of interior plasters with an increasing proportion of PCM. These plasters were made of gypsum, and microencapsulated PCM Micronal DS 5008 X was used. Two sets of samples with an increasing proportion of PCM were prepared. The first set was made by adding PCM into a purchased plaster mixture. For the second set, a new plaster mixture was developed by replacing a given proportion of aggregate with PCM. It was found that a larger proportion of PCM can be added to the second set. In this research, bulk density, flexural strength, compressive strength, tensile strength perpendicular to the surface, and thermal conductivity were measured for all samples. This paper has shown that the increasing proportion of PCM caused a deterioration in flexural strength, compressive strength, and tensile strength and an improvement in heat storage capacity and thermal conductivity, which is associated with the decrease in bulk density. In conclusion, the results of both sets are discussed.
