Due to land use practices, there is a change in the environmental landscape in Haridwardistrict which has a great impact on its weather which in further also impacts vegetation.Vegetation Indices are considered as indicator for temporal variation of vegetation sofor better consideration of this dynamics, relation between vegetation and climateshould be studied more extensively. This study evaluates the annual dynamics undervegetation cover and its impact on climatic factor. It is carried out by establishing therelationship between vegetation indices (remote sensing data) and weather parameters(minimum, maximum temperature, and rainfall) over study area for the period of 20years i.e., 2000-2020 by means of Linear Regression Analysis. MODIS NDVI andMODIS EVI 250m spatial resolution time series data is used in the study which isextracted using Google Earth Engine (GEE). Temperature and Rainfall data is collectedfrom Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) website for the study period. Accordingto annual dynamics, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and EnhancedVegetation Index (EVI) both follow identical increasing and decreasing pattern for thestudy period respectively. Regression analysis stated that Climate has strong impact onvegetation where minimum temperature and rainfall show strong correlation with NDVIand EVI, as compared to maximum temperature but all parameters show positive andsignificant correlation. EVI is found to be most reliable and appropriate index forestimating vegetation cover for the study area with correlation coefficient of 0.55 withrainfall.
