In the last two years, given the frequent occurrence of crisis situations, we are becoming more aware of them and the need for proper management of emerging crisis situations and prediction of possible crises in the near future is becoming a necessity [1].
Crisis management is a complex process consisting of several phases that will be explained in this paper. Within each phase there is room for the use of cartographic support. It speeds up communication and provides an indispensable source of information for predicting risks and dangers and analyzing the impact of the crisis on a particular area [2]. Nowadays, the basic source of information is the Internet, so people first look for solutions and instructions on the Internet during crisis situations. It emphasizes the role of online cartographic bases that can be a visualization tool to direct people to safe places and shelters and a source of communication to seek help and mark endangered sites immediately after a crisis situation occurs [3]. After studying the available online views for the Republic of Croatia, a web map and cartographic application for the Republic of Croatia and crisis situations relevant to its area were created as an example of cartographic representations in crisis situations that are missing, which would enable a comprehensive analysis of crisis situations in Croatia by counties. |
