DESIGN OF AN ACTUATOR AND A CRANE CRAB FRAME FOR A DOUBLE-GIRDER CRANE IN THE MINING COMPANY
Abstract
The mining companies are often faced with the requirement for bulky material transfer which is possible to realize using overhead travelling cranes. An overhead travelling crane has rectangular work space, which is characteristic for this type of crane. A part of an overhead travelling crane is also a crane crab. Crane crab movement is carried out after the double-girder crane construction and loads are displacing along the whole length of the crane. The aim of this paper is a proposal of 3D geometric model of the crane crab frame with drive for double-girder cranes with low lifting capacity by using Creo Parametric program. The paper deals with the designed alternatives of the drive and crane crab frame of which the optimal solution for the frame and the drive was selected that best met the required criteria: ease of design, safety, and ease of maintenance and cost savings. Based on drive calculation the electro-gearbox by Nord Company was chosen. The article also included economic evaluation of the proposed solution where the costs of implementing the proposed crane crab were calculated. The resulting proposal of crane crab is designed for cranes with low lifting capacity up to 12 500 kg and travel speed 20 m.min-1 with financial costs amount to 4,373 Euro.
