LATE PLEISTOCENE AND HOLOCENE PALEOHYDROLOGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL HISTORY AS INFERRED FROM LAKE TAYMYR TERRACES STUDIES (TAYMYR PENINSULA, RUSSIAN ARCTIC)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-11-20, Fedorov, G., Savelieva, L., Kostromina, N.)

Lake Taymyr is largest lake in Eurasian Arctic. Late Quaternary environmental history of the area has been studied extensively during the last decades. However, Late Pleistocene and Holocene history of Lake Taymyr itself remain uncertain. More information concerning lake-level changes and climate conditions can be obtained by studying lake terraces. During summer 2016, several outcrops of Lake Taymyr terraces (10-m high and 25-m high terraces) deposits have been investigated. Here we present the results of litholo...

THE METHODS OF RESEARCH OF BURIED SOILS UNDER ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Puzanova, Tatiana)

One of the ways to study the evolution of natural environment, in particular, the soil cover is a comprehensive study of soils buried under archaeological sites. Comparative analysis of the properties of paleosols buried in different historical epochs allows us to examine in detail the spatial and temporal dynamics of the natural environment and its components in time. The use of such comparative analysis is possible because the burial of soil under embankments of defensive ramparts, burial mounds and cultural lay...

SOIL INDICATORS OF LATE HOLOCENE FOREST-STEPPE LANDSCAPE EVOLUTION ON THE RUSSIAN PLAIN

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Krundyshev, B., Haezrahi, E., Krundyshev, K., Budro, A., Morgun, E.)

Archaeological objects, such as fortification ramparts and burial mounds are widely spread on the Russian Plain and commonly buried soils have well preserved beneath. For Late Holocene, especially after 2500 BP, the climatic trends for the Russian Plain are still uncertain. Chronosequences of surface soils and soils buried under defensive ramparts of ancient settlements Mukhino, Ksizovo and Degtevoe in the Central Forest-Steppe zone, Lipetsk region was studied. Five defensive earthworks differ in age from 2500 to ...

DIATOMS OF SEDIMENTS OF PLESCHEEVO LAKE (RUSSIA) AS INDICATORS OF ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGES IN HOLOCENE

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Palagushkina, Olga)

Bottom sediments of continental limnic ecosystems are of great interest to researchers as paleoarchives of changes taking place in the environment. Use of diatoms allows to reconstruct the main stages of life of lakes against the background of changing environmental conditions caused by natural and anthropogenic causes. The core of the bottom sediments selected from Pleshcheyevo Lake (Russia). The maximum age of the core was 5070±150 year BP (Holocene period). Diatom analysis of 73 samples revealed 127 taxa. In th...
