ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATIONS OF WATER LEVEL FLUCTUATIONS IN DEEP CHARA-LAKE IN LIGHT OF HYDROCHEMISTRY AND WATER TRANSPARENCY IN PHYTOLITTORAL ZONE

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Rybak, M., Joniak, T., Gabka, M.)

Water level fluctuations play a significant role in linking water and soil environments and shaping littoral zone. The aim of study was to evaluate the physical and chemical features of water as well as light availability in phytolittoral zone in the case of water level rise. Investigations were carried out in deep mesotrophic lake with well-developed charophytes meadow, above which samples were collected (30 stations). In this lake between year 2010 and 2012 water level increased over 1.0 m as a result of intense...

MULTIVARIATE ANALYSIS APPLIED TO THE STUDY OF ACID MINE DRAINAGES AND SURROUNDINGS SUPERFICIAL WATERS (ERVEDOSA MINE, NORTHERN PORTUGAL)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Favas, Paulo)

The old Ervedosa mine (Northern Portugal) was intermittently exploited for tin by underground and open pit mining till 1969. The tailings were deposited on the ground. The mine was abandoned without any environmental remediation. Mineralization occur in quartz veins, and consists of cassiterite as the main ore mineral, and several sulphides (arsenopyrite, pyrite, sphalerite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and stannite), matildite, bismuthinite, native bismuth and other minerals. The present study aims to characterize th...

ECOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT OF ARTESIAN WATER FROM WELL NEAR VILLAGE OF RASOVO (NW BULGARIA)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Trayanova, M., Benderev, A.)

Oil and gas exploration in Bulgaria has been mainly conducted in Northern Bulgaria. Up to 2500 boreholes have been drilled on the territory of the country so far with a depth of several hundred meters to more than 6000 m. During drilling, groundwater with different hydrochemical properties, often with high total dissolved solids (TDS) and contents of a number of elements, have been registered. After the completion of the drillings, many of them have not been liquidated, as in some of the boreholes artesian water o...
