INSTABILITY PHENOMENON AND MITIGATION MEASURES AT KM 40+695-KM 40+720, BRASOV- PODU OLT RAILWAY

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-11-20, Gheorghe, R., Dimofte, D.)

Romania has an important rail network, of public use, consisting of about 10764 km of railway, some of which are affected by instability phenomena. Although the percentage of areas affected by instability in the entire network is insignificant, railway sections have some peculiarities, any difference in the order of the centrimetres appearing at the upper level of the rail can lead to the closing of the line, with important financial consequnce. The surface, affected by the instability phenomen was about 4,000m2, ...

POSSIBILITIES OF USING LIGHT DYNAMIC PENETRATION IN THE LANDSLIDE AREA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Siroky, T., Molinek, O., Kral, T., Lazorisak, P., Janega, M.)

The authors of this article describe the suitability of using light dynamic penetration in the target area. The area of this survey was selected on the already reclaimed area, which, however, proved to be unstable. The main objective was to locate individual water-saturated horizons in the locality and, eventually, to determine the shear areas on which instability occurs. For this reason, several geodetically measured points were selected for dynamic penetration measurement. By this method, the water-saturated hor...

DIGITIZATION OF MEASURED DATA IN THE LANDSLIDE AREA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Kral, T., Siroky, T., Janega, M., Lazorisak, P., Molinek, O.)

Mining is one of the most devastating forms of meeting human needs. As it is clear from the aerial photographs, the landscape of the north-western part of the Czech Republic is highly affected by the activity of the mining industry, namely lignite quarries. During the activities at these quarries, the landscape is transformed into a form that resembles the surface of the moon. For this reason, the law imposes an obligation on mining companies to reclaim the landscape after their activity to guarantee the higher cu...

PROBLEMS OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF THE DEGRADED RELIEF IN THE RIVER KVIRILA BASIN, WEST GEORGIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Dvalashvili, G.)

The study of the relief transformations caused by human activities is one of the most important problems of modern geomorphological studies. The study of the anthropogenic impact on the nature and relief in particular and forecast of changes is particularly important in solving the problems of the economics and sustainable development of the country what is to be considered in complex with the problems of environmental protection and rational use of natural resources. The human activities during the underground mi...

CONCEPTUAL AND NUMERICAL MODELLING FOR HYDROGEOLOGICAL HAZARD ASSESSMENT IN THE UNESCO SITE OF CASTELSEPRIO (NORTHERN ITALY)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Finis, E. De, Gattinoni, P., Scesi, L., and, A. Valletta)

This paper deals with the evaluation of the hydrogeological hazard in the archaeological site of Castelseprio (northern Italy). Based on the geological, hydrogeological and geomorphological setting of the site, the failure modes and their causative factors were identified, and a proper conceptual model was reconstructed, identifying piping processes as the main phenomena ruling the slopes evolution and the landslides triggering. Afterwards, the hydrogeological hazard was assessed applying numerical modelling both ...
