ADSORPTION PERFORMANCE OF CO3O4 IN THE REMOVAL PROCESS OF PHENOL AND LEAD FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Voda, R., Lupa, L., Cocheci, L.)

In this study, cobalt oxide (Co3O4) was prepared by thermolysis of cobalt (II) oxalate at ???????????? This oxide was characterized by IR spectroscopy, XRD (X-ray diffraction) and SEM (scanning electron microscopy). The adsorption of phenol and lead (II) ions, both singly and in combination, by obtained and characterized Co3O4 was studied in batch system. Kinetic and equilibrium experiments were conducted to study the effects of solid : liquid ratio, pH, contact time and initial concentration of the pollutants. Th...

Since 1860, phenol has been in production, with its basic use as an antiseptic. During late 19th century and thereafter the use of phenol has been further extended to the synthesis of dyes, aspirin, plastics, pharmaceuticals, petrochemical and pesticide chemical industries. In fact, by 2001, the global phenol production has reached an impressive 7.8 million tons. Among the different organic pollutants in wastewater, phenols are considered as priority pollutants since they are harmful to plants, animals and human, ...
