HYDROTHERMAL ACTIVATION OF FLY ASH FROM BROWN COAL COMBUSTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Adamczyk, Z., Bialecka, B., CEMPA, M., MAJKA, G., POLANSKA, A.)

In Poland, like in many other countries, research is conducted toward creating sorbent materials based on fly ashes. The present shows the synthesis of fly ash from brown coal combustion in pulverised-fuel boilers of the Be?chat?w Power Plant. The synthesis was conducted in an autoclave using the hydrothermal method with alkaline activation. The conditions for the synthesis were: temperature of 170°C, NaOH aqueous solution. The chemical composition of the fly ash as well as the products of the synthesis was determ...

THE INFLUENCE OF N AND P FERTILIZATION ON SOME CHEMICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SOIL

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Gierbienis, Marcin, Rotariu, L., Butnariu, M., SIMO, A., NICOLAE, R.)

The influence of fertilization with nitrogen (N) at doses of 40, 80, 120, 160 kg/ha and phosphorus (P) at doses of 40, 80, 120, 160 kg/ha was studied in a long-term experiment on a Haplic Phaeozems. The results obtained showed the following: the applied nitrogen doses did not significantly influence the humus content in the soil; simultaneous application of 80-160 kg/ha P and 40-160 kg/ha N generated distinctly and very significant increases in the hummus and total nitrogen content of the soil. Ammonium nitrate ca...

IMPROVED MODEL OF A TETHERED SPACECRAFT SYSTEM WITH ARTIFICIAL GRAVITY

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Yildirim, Mucahit, Walusiak, H., Coatu, V., Stoica, E., Marin, O.)

Maintaining health and physical condition of astronauts during long-duration space missions requires measures to prevent microgravity effects. At present, such measures consist in practicing certain physical exercises, in using elastic suites, as well as in special medication. However, the efficiency of these solutions is limited. An alternative approach, technologically more difficult, but considerably more efficient, consists in producing a state of artificial gravity in the module inhabited by the crew. Such a ...

FLORENCITE IN FLY ASH FROM THE RYBNIK POWER PLANT (POLAND)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, CEMPA, M., Adamczyk, Z., Bialecka, B.)

The demand for rare earth elements (REEs) in the global economy has incentivised many researchers to search for alternative sources of those metals. For many years fly ashes have been the subject of such research, which indicate that they might be fit for REE recovery. One of the primary problems with recovering those metals from fly ashes faced by process engineers is the form in which they occur. As research shows, REEs occur in fly ashes in the glass and other mineral components (e.g. monazite, xenotime and oth...

SPINELS IN THE FLY ASH OF POWER PLANT OSTROLEKA (POLAND)

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, KLUPA, A., Adamczyk, Z.)

The Power Plant Ostroleka is one of many in Poland, which is coal-fired. Fly ash, as is well known, are combustion by-products, which are mineral residue from burning coal. Their phase composition depends mainly on the quality of fuel (coal) and combustion conditions. In the mineral composition of the examined ashes one has identified minerals such as: glass, quartz, mullite, spinels, hematite. Spinels present in the fly ash can be a source of some metals, and due to the magnetic properties of some of them, are ea...

APPLICATION OF REACH REGULATION AND LCA STANDARD IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Harat, A., Adamczyk, Z.)

The article presents practical problems related to the application of REACH and LCA standards in the construction sector. Chemicals are an essential factor in assessing and managing of all kinds of risk due to their importance as components of materials and their various effects, such as: adverse and beneficial, biophysical and socio-economic. The process of reducing of adverse environmental impact of construction sector on the environment is a subject of increasing attention of scientists and companies. It should...

THE INFLUENCE OF NITROGEN AND PHOSPHORUS-BASED FERTILISERS ON THE MUSTARD AND MAIZE PRODUCTION UNDER SOIL AND CLIMATE CONDITIONS IN THE LOWER PLAIN OF BANAT

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Silaeva, P., Akhmedinova, K., Redina, M., Khaustov, A., Soimosan, T.)

Among the key factors and the physical-geographical conditions of the environment in which plants grow and are harvested, the soil presents a major component, which has the role, on the one hand, of a complex indicator of the evolution of characteristics that determine the growth of plants and, on the other hand, of a depository of the influence of all other conditions and factors, faithfully and continuously recording all the phenomena occurred in a certain place and time. This is illustrated by the level of must...

SOIL CONTAMINATION IN THE PROXIMITY OF THE HISTORICAL COPPER SMELTER - A REVIEW

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Moga, L., Moga, I., Krajnikova, K., Mandicak, T.)

Soil pollution with heavy metals is a major global environmental problem for many ecosystems. The exploitation and processing of non-ferrous ores are one of the most important anthropogenic sources of soils contamination with heavy metals. Romania is a rich country in mineral resources, therefore it has a long history of their exploitation. In this regard, there are several areas for the non-ferrous ores extraction, and one of them is located in the Metaliferi Mountains, where the tradition in gold, silver and oth...
