This paper presents a basic description of the geological and tectonic setting of the areas of placement of four seismological observatories located in the eastern part of Romania. The four seismological observatories are MLR ? Red Mountain Seismologic Observatory, NEHR ? Nehoiu Mountain Seismological Observatory, ODBI ? Odobesti Seismological Observatory and VRI ?
