The paper presents the results of the experiences organized on the tailings dump resulting from the surface mining of lignite in Rovinari, Gorj county, for testing the effects of a fertilizer assortment, such as: liquid fertilizers based on humates extracted from lignite, complex mineral fertilizer (N105 P105 K105 and N150 P150 K150), farmyard manure (20, 40 and 60 t/ha) and compost (20, 40 and 60 t/ha), as well as mixtures of the two types of organic fertilizers with mineral fertilizer.
