EFFECT OF THREE DIFFERENT METAL POWDERS ON THE PHASE BEHAVIOR OF CH4 AND CO2 HYDRATES: FESI3, INCONEL 718 AND CUSN12

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Yan Li, Alberto Maria Gambelli, Federico Rossi)

To better investigate the effect of additives on the hydrate phase behavior and to enrich the hydrate phase equilibrium data in the presence of metal compounds. Hydrate experiments were carried out in the existence of a pure quartz porous medium impregnated with a metallic powder made of 200 g FeSi3, Inconel 718 and CuSn12 alloy, respectively. Results were obtained the entire process of methane and carbon dioxide hydrate formation and decomposition in all cases. In this 949 cm3 lab-scale reactor, metallic powders ...

THE EFFECT OF FESI3 PARTICLES ON METHANE AND CARBON DIOXIDE HYDRATES: EXPERIMENTAL EVIDENCES AND COMPARISON WITH THE CURRENT THEORY.

(STEF92 Technology, 2021-12-20, Alberto Maria Gambelli, Andrea Di Schino, Federico Rossi)

This article describes gas hydrates formation, with methane and carbon dioxide as guest compounds, in a small-scale experimental apparatus, appositely designed to reproduce marine offshore reservoirs. The sediment consisted of pure quartz porous sand impregnated with FeSi3 particles, which are produced via gas-atomization and are usually destined to applications in additive manufacturing. Experimental results were compared with the theoretical equilibrium conditions for both types of hydrates. It was established t...

NATURAL GAS HYDRATE: EFFECT OF SODIUM CHLORIDE ON THE CO2 REPLACEMENT PROCESS

(STEF92 Technology, 2019-06-20, Alberto Maria Gambelli)

Natural gas hydrate are solid compounds formed from water (host) and gas molecules (guest) at relatively high pressure and low temperatures. They are considered as a potential alternative energy source because of their high energy density, potential carbon-neutral nature and wide existence, both in permafrost and ocean seabeds. The most developed strategies for exploiting hydrate deposits are depressurization, thermal stimulation, chemical inhibitors and CO2 replacement. In particular, chemical inhibitors promote ...
