Forests present up 41.3% of the total area of the Slovak Republic. However, for forest soils no limit values for risky elements are given by the legislation, as it is for agricultural soils. The aim of this study was to monitor forest soils of 7 regions in Slovakia. Soil samples were collected from 70 sampling sites in 9 selected localities.
