One of the deepest excavations in Sofia history are related to Sofia Metro Expansion project, in the section between the future Metro Stations 8 (Sofia University) and 9 (Vasil Levsky Stadium). In this section the metro tunnels are being driven with the help of a tunnel boring machine delivered by the Japanese company “Taisei Corporation”.
