UNCERTAINTIES AND ESTIMATES USING INPUT DATA FOR THE FLOOD PROTECTION OF SMALL FOOTHILL REGIONS

The article analyses the current state of flood protection of the urban area in the foothill region. Problems of the area were characterized through selected critical points that support the local flood origination. Of course, the flood is a random phenomenon and its behaviour depends on many other factors, such as soil saturation, vegetation cover, river bed channel current state, as well as drainage cuts, soil management, etc. For efficient design of the flood protection measures, it is necessary to have input d...

THE IMPACT OF SLOPE GRADIENTS ON THE GENERATION OF SURFACE RUNOFF IN LABORATORY CONDITIONS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Michaela Danacova, Roman Vyleta, Peter Valent, Kamila Hlavcova)

The generation and occurrence of surface runoff from a slope is driven by many factors, such as the slope gradient, the physical properties and current state of the soil, the type and density of the vegetation cover, and the intensity and duration of rainfall events. Within the study experiments with a rainfall simulator were focused on an analysis of the impact of a changing slope gradient on the generation of surface runoff and the amount of eroded soil material. The experiments were conducted in laboratory cond...
