UPDATING THE RED LIST OF THREATENED, ENDANGERED AND RARE FOREST HABITATS FROM ROMANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Vasile, D., Scarlatescu, V., Ciuvat, L., Enescu, R., Crisan, V.)

In the past decades Romania?s forest habitats suffered from human activity impact, resulting in loss of biodiversity and ecosystems services, thus highlighting the need for improved conservation measures. In 2008 the IUCN initiated a global Red List of ecosystems (Resolution 4.020, IV World Conservation Congress in Barcelona). The IUCN Red List of Ecosystems is planned to be a standard for assessing the status of ecosystems, which is applicable at local, national, regional and global level. In this article highlig...

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Mazina, Svetlana)

The composition of micromycetes of rocks and deposits of the caves Kinderlinskaya and Oktyabrskaya, located in the Republic of Bashkortostan, Russia, have been studied. The caves are formed in the upper Devonian Famennian limestones. These caves differ significantly in anthropogenic load due to their different accessibility to humans. Kinderlinskaya is a horizontal cave with a large entrance often visited by tourists. It needs special climbing equipment to enter to the October cave as it is situated on the height ...

SUPPLY AND DEMAND OF MULTIPLE SOIL FUNCTIONS IN TWO DIFFERENT REGIONS IN LATVIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Gendelis, S., Mikelsons, M., Jakovics, A., Nipers, A., Jansone, B.)

The development of the agricultural industry and increasing demands for bio-based products adds pressure on natural resources, such as water and soil. Soil is non-renewable resource and provides many ecosystem services, namely food and biomass production, water purification, nutrient cycling, carbon sequestration and habitats for biodiversity. The simultaneous achievement of socio-economic and climate policy objectives is challenging and requires careful management of soils as a pivotal resource. In Latvia, the ke...
