The purpose of this work was to determine the impact of anthropogenic activities, which consisted in the expansion of the national road 51 to change the water relations in the Upper Pas??ka catchment. Hydrological measurements were carried out on the Pas??ka River near the Gry?liny village. Studies have shown that the expansion of road 51 has changed the way the river basin has been developed. The area of agricultural and forested areas decreased in favor of paved and built-up areas, which resulted in an increase ...

HISTORIC FLOODING IN THE PRUT-BARLAD CATCHMENTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Crenganis, L., Bofu, C., Balan, I., Boariu, C., Hogas, H.)

The flood regime in the Prut ? B?rlad catchments is characterised by short, high intensity floods in the majority of upland rivers. These upland rivers are often ephemeral ? dry during the hot, summer months and wet during the winter months. In lowland rivers, flooding is more prolonged, especially near confluences. Short, high intensity rainfall coupled with low infiltration on catchments lead to flash flooding in upland areas. Changing land use patterns during the last 15 ? 20 years are increasing the frequency ...
