MICROSTRUCTURE OF GYPSUM PASTE AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-11-20, Krejsova, J., Dolezelova, M., Vimmrova, A.)

Gypsum paste was subjected to the temperatures up to 1000 °C and its microstructure was investigated by SEM microscopy. The volume and mass changes were also measured and the bulk density, porosity and residual strength were determined. After heating to the 1000 °C the structure of paste changed substantially, as can be seen in the micrographs. The structure of heated material is denser and the anhydrite crystals are bigger. The volume of the samples decreased more than 50%. The bulk density increased by 20%, whil...

INVESTIGATION OF THE EFFECT OF TAILINGS CHARACTERISTICS ON PASTE BACKFILL PROPERTIES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Cihangir, F., Kesimal, A., Yilmaz, T., Koc, E., Akyol, Y.)

In this study, the effect of physical, chemical and mineralogical properties of mine tailings on the microstructural, mechanical and durability properties of cemented paste backfill (CPB) samples prepared with normal Portland cement were investigated. Depending on the characteristics of the tailings, the difference in strength varied in the range of 6-22% between similar types of tailings. However, higher strength values about 61-86% were obtained when the fine material was removed from normal tailings. Porosity v...

IMAGE PROCESSING ANALYSIS OF POROSITY IN SOME IRON- BASED POWDER METALLURGY MATERIALS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Marin, F. B., Marin, M., Gurau, G., Gurau, C., Petrea, I.)

In the present study, an image porcessing analysis of porosity in some iron-based powder materials was proposed. The specimens analyzed were produced from atomised iron powders of different sizes ( 150 ?m). The analyzed powders were compressed in a mold using uniaxial pressing and the applied pressure was 600 MPa with the disc dimensions of ? 8 ? 6 mm. The compacts were sintered at a temperature of 1.150 °C with the sintering time of 60 and 90 minutes. The sintered specimens obtained were analyzed regarding the po...
