Kosovo has a varied geology that ranges in age from the Neo-Proterozoic to the Holocene. The geology is characterized by substantial structural features on a regional scale, including, normal faulting and thrusting. The area belongs to the External Vadar Zone (EVZ). The Volcanic complex Mitrovic\"e – Samadrexh\"e is dominated by Jurassic and Neogene volcanic rocks from several eruption centres, interlayered by metamorphic and sedimentary units.
