Due to the increased consumption of S420NL thick steel plates, the world steel price is expected to decrease. The main purpose of this investigation is to find an optimal solution both from a technical and commercial point of view to produce heavy plate 40 mm thick microalloyed S420NL hypoeutectoid steel.
