LOCATION IMPROVEMENTS FOR THE TWIN CRUSTAL EARTHQUAKES RECORDED ON FEBRUARY 2023 IN GORJ COUNTY, ROMANIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2023-10-01, Mircea Rădulian, Mihaela Popa, Raluca Dinescu, Andrei Bălă)

A significant seismic sequence started on 13 Feb. 2023 at 14:58 GMT with a mainshock of 5.2 ML located at 17 km depth and at 14 km distance NW from Targu Jiu city. The first shock was followed by 16 aftershocks with magnitudes between 2.1 and 3.4 after which a second mainshock of magnitude 5.7 was triggered next day, 14 Feb., at 13:16 GMT. The largest acceleration at the second shock (105.25 cm/s2) was recorded at Gura Zlata station as well. The seismic events hypocenters are established by several methods. First ...

CROSS-CORRELATION TECHNIQUE USED TO DISCRIMINATE THE QUARRIES BLASTS RECORDED IN DOBROGEA (ROMANIA) DURING 2012 - 2016 TIME INTERVAL

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Raluca Dinescu)

The most important products of the seismological network are complete and reliable earthquake catalogs. Detecting earthquakes over an extended scale, from smallest magnitudes to large events is a critical issue in many studies, such as earthquake statistics, source seismology and seismic hazard. During the last years, the seismic network of Romanian has developed by increasing the number of stations and station coverage. Despite the significant improvement, the coverage is still not uniform all over the Romanian t...

USING GIS/GPS FOR MONITORING THE CLOSED MINE AREAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, DINESCU, R. Kiss)

The periodical inspection of areas from closed/in closure process mines is a very difficult and labor-intensive activity. Processing of data , mainly in digital and graphical form, together with written reports can be substantially simplified using simple, available and cheap common purpose GIS/GPS hardware and software tools. The paper deals with a tracking algorithm for monitoring the closed mines area in order to obtain periodic images and maps with the state of facilities. The main achievement is the trans-cal...

USING GPS/GIS TOOLS FOR INSPECTING OPEN PIT LIGNITE MINES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, KISS, S. Dinescu)

Lignite open pit mines have large extent, the excavating and stacking equipment are far one from other, the conveying equipment ale very long, so, the face / mine managers have to record a big amount of data when making daily/weekly/monthly inspections. Also, they are critical inspection points, which are moving with the face's advance. The paper deals with a method and procedure of using smart phones with GPS for taking photos, which are after inspection geo-referenced on the mine plan and on the maps. The author...
