The fauna of blood-sucking midges of the Lower Volga region is represented by one taiga species (Simulium morsmulitans Edw.), three steppe and forest-steppe species (Titanopteryx maculata Mg., Schonbaueria matthiesseni End., Boophtora erythrocephala De Geer.), and the species Odagmia ornate Mg. has a polyzonal range and is widespread.
