This study focuses on the geochemical and mineralogical compounds of clay occurrences that had been interbedded low rank coals in Biga Peninsula, Turkey. The usages of these clay formations were also studied. \cCanakkale district, Tuzla region in Turkey houses one of the major geothermal fields of Turkey. Tuzla geothermal field, with its 173 oC temperature is also an important site of weathering and alteration occurrence.
