In Poland the closed shafts were filled up in the past years with th e rock material with very different backgrounds and properties. The effect of flooding the shallow, old mining areas, as well as the impact of water infiltrating from the surface, are observed on the surface as subsidence funnel and discontinuous crack. Using the geophysical surveys, numerical modeling, geologic al and hydrogeologi cal studied, some possibilities for diagnosis of hazards in abandoned coal mines areas are shown. In the context of ...
