ASSESSMENT OF THE UNCERTAINTIES OF THE VALUES OF A HYDROLOGIC MODEL PARAMETERS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT TWO CALIBRATION APPROACHES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Patrik Sleziak, Jan Szolgay)

Reliable estimates of water balance components are important for solving various tasks in water management, such as hydropower management, flood forecasting, etc. It is well known that the modeling of the water balance components is associated with several problems, e.g., uncertainty in inputs, model parameters and model structure. Considering various data sources in the parameter estimation process can be a good way to improve model consistency and also to reduce parameter uncertainty. The objective of this study...

HYBRID MODEL FOR ONE STEP AHEAD FORECASTING OF DAILY RIVER FLOWS

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-11-20, Elena Peksova-Szolgayova, Jan Szolgay, Zsolt Lukac)

In this study a hybrid model for one step ahead forecasting of mean daily discharges at the gauging ??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????Daily discharges were modeled and predicted by the decomposition of the mathematical model of the runoff generation process into two components ?? deterministic and stochastic. For such approach the term hybrid is often adopted. The aim was to improve the forecasting performance b...

THE IMPACT OF LAND USE CHANGES ON FLOOD REGIME: A CASE STUDY OF THE MYJAVA CATCHMENT

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Peter Roncak, Kamila Hlavcova, Jan Szolgay, Silvia Kohnova, Evelin Lisovszki)

This study focuses on the analysis of the impact of land use changes on the flood regime in the Myjava River basin located in the Western Slovakia. The Myjava River basin has an area of 641.32 km2 and is typical for the formation of fast runoff processes, intensive soil erosion and muddy floods. The main factors responsible for the problems with flooding and soil erosion are location, geology, pedology, agricultural land use and cropping practices. A GIS-based spatially distributed WetSpa rainfall-runoff model was...
