AUTOMATIC URBANISATION MONITORING FOR RISK ASSESSMENT BY REMOTE SENSING AND COPERNICUS DATA - A PRELIMINARY RESEARCH

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-12-15, Iva Gašparović, Mateo Gašparović, Filip Radić, Mario Uroš)

Rapid urbanization increases the vulnerability of cities to natural hazards, especially earthquakes, as unplanned growth can aggravate structural risks and strain infrastructure. This research is based on a project -Automatic urbanization monitoring for risk assessment by remote sensing and Copernicus data- which aims to improve the detection of urban growth patterns and identify areas with increased seismic vulnerability. This project-s main goal is to develop and test a prototype for automatic urbanization monit...

LONG-TERM VEGETATION DYNAMICS IN THE SPACVAN BASIN (1984-2023): REMOTE SENSING INSIGHTS INTO CLIMATIC IMPACTS AND EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS

(STEF92 Technology, 2024-12-15, Mateo Gašparović, Ivana Metic, Radan Vujnovic)

This research focuses on the long-term assessment of vegetation quality dynamics in the Spacvan Basin from 1984 to 2023. The objective is to evaluate how specific climatic factors influence vegetation health. The study employed remote sensing techniques, analyzing satellite images from the LANDSAT and Sentinel missions. The Spacvan Basin, covering 43,519 ha, served as the area of interest. Data collection, processing, and analysis were conducted using the Google Earth Engine platform. NDVI values were measured ove...

SEAGRASS MAPPING USING SENTINEL-2 IMAGERY AND REMOTE SENSING TECHNIQUES: A CASE STUDY FROM CROATIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2022-12-27, Mateo Gašparović, Almin Đapo, Boško Pribičević)

Nowadays, remote sensing techniques play an important role in the rapid acquisition of a large amount of spatial environmental data. The development of sensors in the last decade has led to the development of Earth observation satellite missions, e.g., Sentinel, PlanetScope. Numerous machine learning and deep learning methods are used in nowadays research to classify satellite imagery to enable rapid environmental mapping (e.g., land cover and land use, water bodies). Posidonia oceanica is considered the most impo...

URBAN VEGETATION DETECTION BASED ON THE LAND-COVER CLASSIFICATION OF PLANETSCOPE, RAPIDEYE AND WORLDVIEW-2 SATELLITE IMAGERY

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Mateo Gašparović)

One of the problems that are encountered today is the migration from rural to urban areas. Cities are becoming overpopulated and consequently overbuilt. Due to the high demand for new residential and commercial buildings, in the last few decades, green zones such as parks are often becoming built. In the cities, there is increasingly less room left to nature. Urban vegetation has a large impact on the quality of life in cities. The aim of this research is the detection of urban vegetation by three independent mult...
