At the global scale, the construction sector has a significant social and economic influence over people?s daily activities. At the same time, it is well known that the built environment is responsible for a significant negative influence over the Earth?s ecosystem. Taking into account the climate change phenomena registered nowadays, as well as the expected increase in the global volume of negative effects over the natural environment, considering the ecological dimension of sustainability in the construction sec...

EXPERIMENTAL AND NUMERICAL STUDIES OF THE SHEAR STRUCTURAL RESPONSE OF ADHESIVELY BONDED SINGLE LAP JOINTS BETWEEN GFRP COMPOSITE PROFILES

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Nicolae Ţăranu)

This paper presents a comparative study based on numerical and experimental results, regarding the single lap joints (SLJs) between pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP) composite elements that are bonded with epoxy adhesives. The main aspects that were investigated by experimental and numerical approaches consisted in the characteristics of the failure mechanisms and the strain distribution along the bond length at different loading stages. For the experimental program 25 specimens were prepared by vary...
