BIOSORPTION OF URANYL ION FROM RADIOACTIVE SOLUTION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Anatoliy Boguslavsky, Nataliya Yurkevich, Olga Saeva, Olga Gaskova)

U(VI) biosorption by six natural materials: three types of peats, Polytrichium moss, EichhпїЅrnia crпїЅssipes water plant and Cladonia stellaris lichen was investigated. Natural sorbents were selected, as it is available, cheap and accessible materials. The effects of initial concentration of UO2 2- in the model radioactive solution and pH on the sorption uranyl ions were assessed. Adsorption isotherms and constants for given adsorbates and adsorbents were determined. Equilibrium is well described by Freundlich eq...

CHEMICAL MODELLING OF MAJOR AND TRACE ELEMENTS MIGRATION COMPLEXES IN WESTERN MONGOLIAN SALINE LAKES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Marina Kolpakova, Olga Gaskova)

The inorganic migration forms of trace elements in the lakes of Western Mongolia characterized by a high content of such trace elements as U (up to 3 mg/L), Li (up to 82), Br (up to 718), Al (up to 0.4) were calculated using HydroGeo software (Bukaty, 2002). All studied lakes have high concentration of total dissolved salinity (TDS) that ranges from 1 to 360 g/L and high pH values varies from 6.9 to 10.3. According to calculated results Br, Li, Rb, Na, K, Sr, Ca, and Mg in lake waters migrate predominantly in ioni...

CHEMICAL SPECIATION OF HEAVY METALS IN PEAT BOG, KOKCHETAV MOUNTAIN GROUP, NORTH KAZAKHSTAN

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Olga Naymushina, Marina Kolpakova, Olga Gaskova)

In the present study, chemical speciation of heavy metals in bog water and peat deposits, collected from the territory of the Kokchetav mountain group, North Kazakhstan, is described. The purpose was to evaluate quantitatively migration, distribution, and redistribution of the elements by the example of the natural object as a basic tool for the study of geochemical cycles of elements. Studying of the chemical composition of bog and pore water has been carried out, their comparative characteristic was executed, me...

EQUILIBRIUM REE FRACTIONATION BETWEEN MINERALS AND WATERS IN THE NORTH KAZAKHSTAN SALT LAKES

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Olga Gaskova, Galina Shironosova)

REE determinations were conducted for two mineralized lakes of the Ishim steppe, situated between the Irtysh and Tobol rivers in the southern part of Western Siberia, by means of atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). They are of Cl-Na-type but differ in salinity and pH. It was shown that REE distribution patterns for the Zhamantuz and Kishikaroy lake waters were identical. Nevertheless, coherent fractionation from LREE to HREE is disrupted after the equilibrium calculations. Thermodynamic modeling was performed wi...

GEOCHEMICAL PROCESSES CONTROLLING THE WATER CHEMISTRY OF SALINE LAKES IN THE NORTH KAZAKHSTAN REGION

(STEF92 Technology, 2017-06-20, Olga Gaskova, Marina Kolpakova, Olga Naymusgina, Sergey Krivonogov)

Ishim steppe (plain) is the southern part of Western Siberia, situated between the Irtysh and Tobol rivers. The plain is composed chiefly of sand and clay deposits of the Neocene era, covered with loess-like loams. In the lowlands and valleys there are many fresh, bitter, and salt lakes, including investigated B.Tarangul, Shaglyteniz, Zhamantuz, Kishikaroy and Kalibek lakes. This paper gives a recent study of the water lakes chemistry to show their diversity despite a close arrangement, the similar hydrogeological...
