Reasons for complete mixing of meromictic reservoir are an interesting scientific problem. There are many salt lakes of meromictic type. Water column in such lakes is not mixed down to the bottom for at least one year. So two layers are formed: an upper layer saturated with oxygen and a bottom layer without oxygen but with hydrogen sulphide accumulate.
