CONCENTRATION OF NUTRIENTS AND N:P RATIO IN SURFACE SEDIMENTS OF SMALL WATER BODIES OF AGRICULTURAL AND FOREST AREAS

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Tomasz Joniak)

Small kettle holes filled with water are commonly found objects in damp lowland landscape. Their location within an agricultural and forest area may cause, irrespective of the land use, the enrichment in biogenic substances. Deficiency of data about the phosphorus and nitrogen content in the sediments of small water bodies, which makes the discussion of this subject more difficult and restricting it only to large water reservoirs. The chemistry of the surface layer of bottom sediments (organic matter, phosphorus, ...

EFFECTS OF EUTROPHICATION: SPATIAL LIMITATION OF PHOTOSYNTHETIC ACTIVE RADIATION IN LAKES WITH DEEP-WATER ANOXIA

(STEF92 Technology, 2018-06-20, Tomasz Joniak)

The subject of study was spatial analysis of transmission of visible light in water column of two deep suburban lakes during peak of summer. In vertical profiles of lakes correlations between transmission of blue/green light, photosynthetic active radiation (or PAR), temperature and oxygen content, chlorophyll a and physico-chemical features of water were analysed. Apparent and true depth of photic zone was investigated. The hypothesis was that vertical changeability of PAR limitation/transmission may be used as a...
