Sinorhizobium meliloti species are saprophytic soil bacteria able to fix atmospheric nitrogen in symbiosis with host-plants from alfalfa cross inoculated group. These biotechnologically important species of rhizobia are commonly present in various soil environments, while little is known about their phages.
