The availability of the Baltic Sea for the largest container vessels is limited primarily to the depth of the Danish Straits. The article presents the genesis of safety assessment of LNG tankers, along with safety criteria. The utilitarian need to carry out simulation research risk assessment in respect of a LNG carrier manoeuvring in restricted areas has been justified .
