The objective of the paper is to emphasize the influence of the reclamation works of sloping land with medium-gradient hills on the field capacity and water distribution on the soil profiles located on the upper, medium and bottom ameliorated slope. The study of retaining water capacity of soils was carried out on a slope with eastern north-eastern exposure of the Ezareni farm. Soil samples were taken in spring of 2017 and 2018, immediately after the snow was melted, from 10 to 10 cm on 100 cm depth. Soil samples were taken from the plowed strips of ground and strips of grass. During this period, it is considered that the soil moistening takes place up to the level of the field capacity, and losses of water through direct evaporation to the soil surface are insignificant. The selection of sampling sites was based on the slope category of the land, properties of the taxonomic soil units and from each stripes and buffer strips with perennial grass. The investigations were performed on Cambic Chernozems, Gleyic Colluvic Chernozems and Calcaric Regosols from Jijia Rolling Field, where the mean annual temperature is 9,5oC and the mean annual rainfall is 544 mm. Climatic parameters have high variations from year to year, severe drought periods occur frequently. The analytical data showed that under the same climatically characteristics, soils from slope land retain a lower amount of water than those found on flat or low slopes lands. Following the result analysis, the retention of the water in the soil was influenced by the land use, arable and grassy field, and by morphological, physical and chemical soil characteristics. Two water accumulation peaks recorded on soil profile are well correlated with the changes of size particles of soil horizon or lithological deposit.
