Designing the multitude of technological applications in various activity fields of human society has without question had the direct result of increasing humanity’s quality of life. Nevertheless, besides the positive intended impact of technological advance several negative effects have emerged, especially regarding environmental pollution on different levels. In this regard a lot of debates have primarily started on a scientific level with the goal of finding the best strategies for trying to solve complex created situations and to succeed in keeping good environmental quality. After understanding that technological advance could also be connected to undesired impact, many debates have been carried out, resulting that the concept of “sustainable development” has been raised as a potential solution. It was clearly pointed out that registered advances in technical, economic, as well as environmental and social fields shall be kept by mitigating emerging environmental challenges. In this regard, technology can play an important role by the usage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to successfully emphasize and thus mitigate various potential impacts of technological applications especially on the environmental field. Registered advance in the field of Artificial Intelligence has pointed out applying possibilities in many fields as well as in the environmental field. Going into details, applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) for environmental monitoring with the help of appropriate weighting strategies represents an innovative scientific approach, bringing advance in the environmental protection field and, in doing so, contributing to sustainability of human society.
