The Homor?ciu River watershed is being a subject to complex phenomena of surface and gully erosion, fluvial erosion, as well as alteration of the vertical and horizontal route of Homor?ciu, generating landslides. The main purpose for which land improvement works were designed and executed in a torrential catchment was to ensure the stability of the slopes, so, to actually ensure the stability of the entire river basin. Through the execution of the soil erosion works on the torrential hydrographic formations it was sought to control the hydraulic and hydrological regime of the active hydrographic network. The location and the height of the check dams executed on the torrential hydrographic structure were determined according to the geotechnical, topographic, hydrological and hydrogeological conditions of the hydrographic network. During the period of 1990-2017, no one operation and maintenance work was carried out for the existing soil erosion works, which has determined the physical degradation of the existing check dams, like concrete constructions, stone masonry, local materials or mixed, etc. The aim of the paper is to analyze the fracture scenarios of the constructions, to modify the stability of the constructions by moving (or slipping) and to overturn them to the optimally designed site, modifying the height for which they were designed and executed, but especially obstructing the overflow section with concrete debris or reinforced concrete in particular, which led to a change in the high runoff regime and the path of the watercourse and/or the bed, as well as the longitudinal and transversal profiles of the watercourses (torrents).
