The issue of renewable energy represents an extremely important topic, both as regards Romania, as well as at a worldwide level. From this perspective, this work presents an analysis tool for the investment opportunities in this sector. On the other hand, it tends to clarify some issues related to the concept of renewable energy. From this perspective, the objective of this paper is to conduct a study through which an analysis will be presented related to the wind action on the wind turbines located in the Fantanele-Cogealac wind farm. This study takes into account also the high wind potential, which almost the entire Dobrogea region has. In the design phase of the wind turbines, one of the most important requirements is that the structure must provide sufficient resistance to the action of the extreme wind load. This corresponds to the highest wind speed in the site. The results of the study present the variation in pressures, respectively of the suctions resulting from the wind action on the walls of the wind turbines at certain heights z in relation to the ground. The relevance of the results in the context of the implementation of the renewable energy projects, in this case the wind energy, is particularly important in choosing some types of foundations that are most suitable for putting in application the wind turbines. Furthermore, the central theme of the proposed work was set at the time when the renewable energy market in Romania, and especially in the Dobrogea area, is in full ascension. Thus, it can be concluded that the work proposed herewith addresses the need to use renewable energy sources, given the high degree of pollution and also the limitations over time of the traditional energy resources. At the same time, it can offer some relevant information necessary in taking a decision regarding the investment horizon.
