Decreasing fossil fuel resources and the growing attention to environmental causes increased interest in alternative fuels. Currently as a liquid alternative fuels apply: methanol, ethanol, biodiesel (FAME), dimethyl ether (DME). They can be used directly, or as components of mixtures with conventional fuels. Attempts have also been made to apply recycled fuels for diesel engines. As fuel recycling used oils extracted from waste made of polyethylene and polypropylene, oil recycled from used lubricating oils and liquid fraction obtained as a result of the pyrolysis of used tires.
The paper presents the results of studies of mixtures of diesel fuel and pyrolysis oil.
The testing material were samples of mixtures of diesel oil with the addition of pyrolysis oil in the amount of 3%, 5%, 7%, 10% and 20%. The basic physicochemical properties, ie density, viscosity, flash point, sulfur content, cetane number, lubricity, impurity content were examined. The test results were compared with the requirements set out in the European Standard ? Automotive fuels ? Diesel ? Requirements and test methods.
Moreover, the fuel mix has been morphological analysis. Particle size and shape Analyzer Morphologi G3 company Malvern were counted the number of particulates and classified them in terms of the size of the diameter of these particles.
