Along with welding, the casting of metal alloys is a primary production process, with great spread in the industry, especially in the machine building industry. By casting, a series of semi-fabricated products are obtained, from which, subsequently, by metal grinding processes finite parts are obtained such as straight and cranked shafts, belt wheels, gears, various casings, motor blocks for internal combustion engines and others. There are many casting processes used on an industrial scale such as: casting in temporary molds to which casting into frames, casting into the foundry soil, casting into cores, as well as casting into shells belong, and casting in permanent molds to which casting without overpressure or with overpressure, casting with aspiration, centrifugal casting, continuous casting and others belong. Even if the casting processes are widely used at industrial scale, they are very polluting. The paper?s aim is to determine the polluting effects of the casting process in temporary molds in order to obtain a part in a casting shop, using a model. In the paper, we will describe the technological stages of obtaining the part, according to the model given and we will measure with specific devices the NOx emissions released in the environment, after casting the metal alloy used.
