The article examines the impact of climate on wool productivity formation in Askanian fine fleece sheep of the Tavrian type in the south of Ukraine. Choosing the parameters for assessing the relationship between living organisms and the environment is a topical issue. The paper systematizes the data on wool clips depending on air temperature and amount of precipitation on the territory of the Kherson region in 1990-2016.
The research conducted established a dependence of sheep productivity on economic and climatic conditions, which allows doing simulation spatial-temporal forecasting of wool clips in the Kherson region.
The confidence level determined by the approximation level of the model obtained is 0.76. Average temperatures of about 12oC and total precipitation of 320-430 mm throughout the period of wool productivity formation constitute optimum conditions for gaining maximum wool clips.
The study establishes a nonlinear dependence of sheep productivity on economic and climatic conditions with a high correlation degree of 0.87. A simulation raster model of the spatial distribution of wool clips is constructed using GIS technology and map algebra.
The precipitation effect is lower due to the significant influence of human economic activity on increasing the amount and quality of food supply through its additional storage for farm animals. For the adjustment of the raster spatial model, there has been introduced an additional coefficient of the level of natural agroclimatic potential of the territory of the Kherson region to minimize the artificial agricultural impact on the formation of the forage base, which has a direct cross-correlation with wool productivity.
