The article presents the possibilities of modern use of historical mining excavations in geotourism and industrial tourism on the examples of selected post-mining structures in Poland. Issues related to the subject matter of historic structures, such as relics of former mining works and the significance of post-mining structures as a specific type of tourist products were discussed. The methodology was proposed for making post-mining structures available for tourism purposes, including analysis of particular conditions regarding the potential implementation of such a project, including in particular technical, environmental, formal-legal and economic. According to the methodology, a comprehensive project of this nature should combine interdisciplinary scientific and research work with activities including specialist design works and the performance of security, rehabilitation and adaptation works in facilities and post-mining areas of significant historical value and specific environmental qualities.
