The North Caucasus Federal district is one of the most difficult in terms of its geological location. So, more than a third of the district is mountainous territory. The landslide process is developed in almost all areas. Landslide-bulk processes within the GFCS are mainly developed within the Greater Caucasus. Agriculture forms the basis of the economic complex and in the agro-industrial complex 53 per cent are crop and 47 per cent are livestock. The main directions of development in crop production are the production of grain (including crops such as corn, wheat, millet), potatoes, vegetables, sunflower, hemp for industrial and technical needs. At the same time, there are great problems in the region on the effective use of land, which is associated with both complex relief and many degradation processes. The article presents data on both the region and its individual subjects.
