This article presents the possibility of using computed tomography (CT) in geotechnical engineering including geocomposite testing. This technology enables dynamic, fast and non-destructive analysis of such properties as homogenization rate and porosity, and even the determination of the shear area angle of the samples, as well as it enables the understanding of the mechanisms of sample destruction.
The conducted research confirms an exceptional suitability of the application of medical X-ray CT scanners for engineering purposes, including for geocomposite tests. The experiments were a form of introduction to the development of further and more precise research using the presented technologies.
