Due to the fact that the printing industry is one of the largest production departments in the EU, its impact on the environment cannot be neglected. The printing activity is based on the use of appropriate substances and chemical preparations. They occur mainly at the stage of preparing printing material and subsequent printing. Chemical and photochemical processes occurring during printing, the use of water and air for cooling machines and devices as well as production wastes - these are factors that may affect the condition of the natural environment. Particular attention is paid to the study of emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in this area of activity. Therefore, any change in the production system, resulting in lowering the negative impact on the environment, is justified. The research methodology consisted of several stages. First was to indicate the fields of significant waste emission. The second was the indication of a set of improvement activities undertaken in the selected enterprise in the scope of production (their impact on environmental aspects). In the next - third - stage, cost analyzes concerning the implementation of selected improvement activities were carried out. Data for the study were collected in the form of a direct interview (economic part) and the pollutant emission was measured by the selected object (analytical part).
