At present lasers are used in many fields of the technique. They are useful among others in metrology, incremental methods of manufacturing of the parts made from powders of metals or ceramics, to surfacing by laser welding (building up). Laser beam can replace traditional methods of machining, as far used in the technological processes, but related to decrease of the material and the turnings formation.
However preferred in modern industry the cleaner production strategy recommends the replacement old methods and techniques, related to waste, by the new methods in which there are no or not too much waste. In the paper is shown the example of the innovation usage of the CO2 laser of the wave length 1060 nm and the power 150 W to cutting of the plastics. Based on the conducted experiment the results are described. It is shown that it is necessary to choose the parameters of the laser beam in practice. The reason may be beneficial or not exactly good phenomena which are characteristic for cut material. The microscopic observation results of the material edge after laser cutting and the surface roughness measurement are shown. The quality of the edge was compared both after traditional and laser cutting. It was stated that the replacement of the traditional cutting with waste is possible by laser and is advantageous production solution from the technological and environmental point of view. |
