With climate changes, fortified steep slopes on the road infrastructure are suddenly aggravated by the sudden change in temperature and the rapid melting of accumulated snow. Increased water quantities cause surface and underground flows that turn the slopes into running earth and falling rock fragments. The drained earth mass and the rocks not only break the road bed, but also create a real threat to the safety of people and vehicles. The report, based on an example from practice, discusses aspects of some technical solutions for stabilization of steep slopes. Stabilization is dealt with in two aspects. The first aspect is to overcome the consequences of an accident, to release the traffic and to prevent further destruction. The second aspect is recommendations for efficient technical solutions for environmental and security prevention at the design and construction stages.
