Environmental Economics
The research and development activity is becoming increasingly important in the current economic context. The emergences of new products, increasing the share of a saturated market or even entering a new market are now based on a research and development activity. The amounts allocated for this activity must be in line with the objectives set by manufacturers in the building materials industry in Europe. For them it is very important to increase their turnover, but they also seek to increase their notoriety, in addition to increasing their turnover. In our scientific approach, we have taken into account the top five construction materials manufacturers in Europe for the time period from 2003 to 2016. The indicators taken into account while writing this paper are the turnover (sales), the amounts allocated to the research and development activity and the number of employees. We sought to establish a statistical correlation between these three indicators to get us a closer picture of the funding for the research and development activity. We hope that this scientific approach will allow us to establish a closer correlation between the realities of these three indicators and also to use it as a foundation for further scientific approaches.
